“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” -
                          Albert Einstein

This quote says a lot about why therapy can help to dramatically change our lives: If we continue doing what we've always done, we'll continue to achieve the same results. Therapy is all about learning how to do and see things differently in order to achieve lasting positive change. In therapy, we work to empower and validate individuals, repair relationships, find conflict resolution and heal the damage and hurt that might be resurfacing over and over again.

Maybe you have tried different things in the past, but are still frustrated that life somehow stays the same or even gets worse. Chances are, either what you are doing is simply not working for you, or your expectations are unrealistic.

Therapy is all about learning how to do and say things differently in order to get life and relationships you want.

The fact is, you can’t change the way things are by doing the same things or thinking the same ways. This concept is illustrated perfectly by Carl Jung’s statement, “No problem can be solved on the level of consciousness that created the problem in the first place.” We must change the way we "see" things in order to create new beliefs, feelings, actions and ultimately our new lives and relationships.

***One of the most important factors for anyone seeking therapy to consider is finding the right therapist. While a therapist's education and experience are important, research shows us that therapist-client rapport is the single greatest factor when determining whether counseling was beneficial or not. So what does that mean? It means finding someone with whom you connect. It means feeling like you are really listened to and that the environment around you is safe and inviting. When these conditions are in place positive change is facilitated. My practice is centered around creating this type of therapist-client interaction.
